Climate change and health are two of the most pressing issues facing African countries. They interact in sometimes unexpected ways and together present great challenges as evidenced by the human health impacts of extreme heat, the nutrition implications of extreme droughts, and the compound emergencies arising from the co-occurrence of floods, locust outbreaks, and COVID-19 seen in East Africa in 2020.
ENBEL is inviting relevant stakeholders in Africa to join the network CHANCE (Climate Health Africa Network for Collaboration and Engagement), and together help prepare Africa for the climate changes that pose rapidly increasing threats to our health. There is need for local adaptation planning, and to identify best practices on climate and health in a rapidly changing policy environment.
The objectives and activities of CHANCE will be refined in collaboration with network members based in Africa and we invite contributions from partners to actively shape the agenda of the network.
